Cross Seminole Trail

The Cross Seminole Trail begins from the south at the intersection of Aloma Ave and Howell Branch Rd where it meets the Cady Way Trail in Winter Park, and heads north where it intersects with the Seminole Wekiva Trail at the pedestrian bridge over I-4 in Lake Mary.

The Trail is currently comprised of three separate sections that will eventually connect to create an impressive 23-mile continuous trail. A portion of the Trail is designated as the Florida National Scenic Trail.

Stretching from Orlando's densely populated outskirts to the sleepy bedroom communities of Oviedo, Winter Springs, and Lake Mary, the asphalt rail-trail provides crucial residential links in an automobile-dominated region. Throughout the day locals utilize it to get around town or simply for exercise.

Section One

The 6.4-mile southern section starts on the northeast corner of the Aloma Avenue/Howell Branch Road intersection on the Seminole/Orange county line. (Signs for the Cady Way Trail mark the opposite corner.) This section follows Aloma Avenue northeast through a largely urban setting, coming to an end at Central Boulevard in Oviedo, four blocks from the start of the second section. (As of this writing (12/2013) the end of this section (Central Boulevard) of the trail is being extended east to Oviedo Boulevard and is expected to be complete by January 2014.

The closest trailhead on the southerly (Aloma Avenue/Howell Branch) end, which offers parking and restroom facilities, is Goldenrod Park. It's located on the southeast corner of Aloma Avenue and North Goldenrod Road approximately 0.36 miles west of the trail.

There are no provisons for parking once you reach the Oviedo trailhead. If this area of the Trail is your starting point finding a place to park can be challenging. I've included a photo at the bottom of this page which shows a possible parking area which is close to the second section of the trail.

This is the current (12/2013) official end of the Trail in the southern section. It originally ended in a Cul-De-Sac however as noted in the photo below the trail has been extended to intersect with Central Boulevard. As also noted in the photo the extension to the Trail continues east beyond Central Boulevard to Oviedo Boulevard. This section is expected to be completed by January 2014.

There is no signage in the area which provides directions to the next (second) section which is located at Myrtle Street and North Central Boulevard. Based upon the current trail and future extension the maps below provide directions to the next (second) section.

There are no provisons for parking at the Oviedo trailhead. If this area of the Trail is your starting point finding a place to park can be challenging. I've included a photo which shows a possible parking area which is close to the second section of the trail.
